Bruce Potter

Bruce Potter has spent over 30 years working in cybersecurity across the private sector, government, and research community, which makes him kind of old. He has served as Chief Information Security Officer at Clear Street, Expel, and The KeyW Corporation. He founded and served as CEO of Turngate, a company focused on SaaS security. He also co-founded Ponte Technologies, where he led their offensive and defensive cybersecurity research for DARPA, IARPA, and other intelligence and defense agencies. Ponte’s clients also included companies in financial services, transportation, and other industries.

Bruce’s work has ranged from leading red teams and securing large networks to advising on national cybersecurity policy. He worked with NIST during the development of its Cybersecurity and Privacy Frameworks and served as Senior Technical Advisor to President Obama’s Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity in 2016.

A longtime contributor to the cybersecurity community, Bruce founded The Shmoo Group, a community of security, cryptography, and privacy professionals, and helped organize ShmooCon throughout the conference’s 20-year run. He has written several books and numerous articles and has spoken at cybersecurity conferences around the world. Earlier in his career, he helped bring internet service to remote parts of Alaska. He also brings enough hair to the table for the rest of the executive team.
