SENIOR INFRASTRUCTURE AUTOMATION ENGINEER - CYBERSECURITY

Trinity Cyber pioneered active network defense — preemptive security that surgically removes threats from live traffic before attackers can establish presence on endpoints and networks. While competing Detection & Response approaches demand alert triage and reactive firefighting, our Full Content Inspection™ capability meets adversaries in the network and cleans malicious content from protocols, code, and files in real time — with sub-millisecond inspection latency and near-zero false positives. Every day, we work at scale: protecting over 3 million users and processing 1.5 trillion content objects.

Full-time

We build and maintain the high-performance Linux-based infrastructure that serves as the engine for our security products. As a Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer, you are responsible for the stability and scalability of the systems that allow us to protect our customers in real-time. We are seeking a veteran engineer—with 10+ years of experience—who takes pride in building systems that are as understandable and maintainable as they are powerful.  You will work in a private hosted environment without access to public cloud tools. This is a fully remote position that requires US citizenship due to federal contract requirements.

How We Work:

  • Strategic Autonomy: We hire self-starters and give them the space to innovate. As a senior member of the team, you will operate with minimal direction. We don't micromanage; we provide the objective and trust you to architect the solution.
  • Sophistication & Scale: You will tackle high-complexity work (Puppet, Foreman, and enterprise data center environments) in a low-bureaucracy setting. We’ve removed the corporate fluff so you can focus on the craftsmanship of infrastructure.
  • Remote Excellence: Enjoy the flexibility of a 100% remote role while collaborating with a high-caliber team that values technical integrity above all else.

What You’ll Do:

  • Architect & Automate: Create and maintain structured provisioning, configuration, and deployment workflows using Puppet, Foreman, and other modern automation tools.
  • Empower Protection: Maintain and optimize the enterprise-grade Linux infrastructure that allows our security products to actively shield and defend our customers.
  • Design-First Engineering: Translate complex requirements into clear, predictable designs. You’ll participate in design reviews and change planning to ensure every move is calculated.
  • Strategic Troubleshooting: Take a methodical, data-driven approach to resolving complex system issues, ensuring that once a problem is fixed, it stays fixed.

Core Requirements:

  • Advanced experience in Linux environments (Alma) with a strong focus on automation through Foreman and Puppet supported by Python, Bash, PowerShell (for MS integration), and related tools.
  • Knowledge of major kernel subsystems (network stack, memory management, process/thread management).
  • Advanced python application development knowledge and experience.
  • Experience with systems integration (API development, web services, message queues, etc).
  • Excellent troubleshooting instincts and demonstrated use of rigorous processes for root cause identification.
  • Experience designing, implementing and integrating Web APIs (e.g. GraphQL / REST).
  • Familiar with SQL and NoSQL databases (e.g. PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Redis).
  • Experience working with containers (docker) and standard development processes (git, jira, etc).
  • Experience working with any/all of Nautobot, Telegraf/InfluxDB/Grafana, Elasticsearch/Logstash/Kibana, and other automation and monitoring tools are strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with integrating Linux applications into Windows systems: AD/DNS/DHCP/NPS, and ADFS.
  • Proven ability to learn quickly and solve significant problems with minimal direction.
  • Willingness to perform deep research and/or reverse engineer poorly documented standards.
  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math is preferred.
  • Impeccable troubleshooting skills and ability to rapidly understand the basic design and operation of new systems.
  • Must possess the highest level of personal integrity, value team success over individual achievement, and enjoy working on a fully remote team in a very high tech environment.
